Canon printer bug?

I have encountered a strange bug running LibreOffice 3.5.2 under Windows 7 64-bit with my Canon LBP5050n laser printer.

Whenever I try to print something the Canon printer assistant pops up saying out of paper even though it is not and the printer works normally with all other programs.

I have discovered that LibreOffice seems to be setting the paper type to letter in the printer control panel every time and I think it is trying to print to that instead of the A4 cassette.

Even if I change the default printer profile settings to A4 and cassette loading LibreOffice overrides these even with the use printer tray settings option enabled, the only way I can make it print is by clicking the print properties button in LibreOffice just before printing and setting the paper type to A4 then it prints but this must be done every single time.

Anyone know of a workaround to this ?

Change your default document template to A4:

@Blue5 – Did this answer work for you? If not, please file a bug in the bug tracker. Thanks!

be careful…Canon printers are poorly architected let alone whether poorly implemented or unreliable.

Bought one…had it for 2 weeks and just throw it out and went back to HP.

Based on my experience, I would be extremely surprised this is a LO issue.
