Copy/paste cell background colour along with character in writer table cells?

When copy/pasting from within writer table cells, I want the background colour of each cell copied as well, can this be done?
I know I can use the format paintbrush afterward to copy the colour, but this extra step is going to prove very time-consuming on the particular project I’m working on at the moment.

EDIT: cell background colour that I want copied along with the text was set via Table > Properties > Background.

Cheers.

How is the background colour set? Your question doesn’t explain at all. If I go to an empty cell, right click | Paragraph → Area → Colour and select a background colour that way, the BG colour copies with text to another cell or. to a paragraph in the document.

This probably should be achieved with styles.

Have added info for how the background colour was set to the original question. I wasn’t aware that here was any any other way to set the background colour of cells than via Table > Properties > Background/the shortcut for the same in the Table Toolbar.

Setting the Area colour using Paragraph > Area > Colour does indeed produce an easily-copiable result, however this only sets the colour immediately surrounding the character, not the colour for the entire cell containing the character.

In Styles I can see options for setting a border around the character, as well as highlighting options, but no such option to adjust the background colour of the cell the character is inside. Perhaps the functionality isn’t there…

“this only sets the colour immediately surrounding the character”

In 6.0.7.3 it sets the colour for the entire cell.

There is a style Table Contents that could be used as the basis for table cell styles having e.g. different cell background colours.

Is there any solution to this now? I have a document which is needing some updating and the tables in the writer document need to have the Table/Background colours changed and also some of them need different borders set.

I have the same formatting on each table, this is reused for about 40 separate tables with different text.

I was hoping I could copy and paste the formatting of the table only.

I have tried copying the table back into calc and this works fine - I can then copy text from another table and manipulate in calc to get the formatting correct, but I am unable to copy back from calc to writer with this formatting…?
Is there a way to just do this in writer?
