Can a play-pause bar be added to Impress slides that already feature audio and video files

I have some PowerPoint presentations that feature audio files - and some feature video files – on them. I’d like to play these on Open Office Impress, but Impress does not seem to include a horizontal play-pause bar which would allow me to stop the audio (or the video) file wherever I want… (then lead a discussion with a live audience) – and then go on to the next slide. If I could add a play-pause bar, how would I do that?

I know there is only one way.

Do not use the menu Insert>Audio or Video ....

Proceed as follows:

In the menu Slide Show>Slide Show Settings ....
In the “Slide Show Settings” dialog box, select “In a Window”.

Click Tools>Media Player.
In the dialog box “Media Player” choose the folder symbol “Open” in the lower left corner.
Choose your video and click on Open.

If you start your presentation now, it will be displayed in the Impress window. The window of the Media Player can be moved as desired. The video can be started, paused, or stopped regardless of the presentation.
Good luck trying out.

With me Windows 10 Home; Version 1903; 64-Bit | LibreOffice, Version: 6.2.5.2 (x64).

The crux of the problem: 1. My “slides” contain no headlines or text – only audio or video files which I insert into the blank slide frame 2. When I create the “slide” with its inserted audio or video file, I’m looking for the slide presentation software (PowerPoint, Impress, etc.) to also automatically include a play-pause bar which is then permanent fixture of the slide – once it’s part of the slide, it stays there. 3. This would allow me to select the slide, play the audio – stopping where I want to, not necessarily playing the entire audio file --pause for about a minute or so, then proceed to the next slide and do the same with it.

I appreciate ebot’s suggestion, but - if I’m following ebot’s suggested answer corectly – it looks as if Impress does not automatically include a play-pause bar at the same time an audio file is inserted into the blank slide… and the bar is not a permanent fixture of the slide…

You understood that correctly.

You can play-pause videos properly on just edit mode. Close left panel for bigger screen area.
