Keyboard macros

In Word I can assign a key combination to add certain text. Example: assign alt R to type the name ‘Ralph’. Before someone chastises me because that key combination is already used, I’m just using it as an example. This option is the only thing I’ve seen so far that forces me to keeps using Word. I’m writing a book which has some every long names in it and typing them every single time, which costs me a lot of extra work. Is there a way to do this in Libre office?

You could use the replacement table in AutoCorrect for automatically replacing words or abbreviations in your document (e.g.: Replace: #RWith: Ralph).

I’ll try that, I hadn’t thought of doing it that way. Thanks.

I just tried that and it seems to work fine, thanks again. Even though I can get MS Office 2010 from church for $5 or so I’ve been using it because of the problem I mentioned above. Now I don’t need it at all. I’m also going to scrap open office in favor of Libre Office.
