why are some areas cut out when i merge using libreoffice draw?

You should describe how you do it. Please detail step by step. And let us know which OS and LibreOffice version you are using. Thanks.

Are you aware that “Merging” and “Grouping” are different things and in case you really want to “Merge” then any substantial answer will require a knowledge of the real structure of the shapes. Thus a screenshot won’t be helpful for any analysis and an example file will be required (Not telling that it not might be a bug anyway).

Thank you for your replies. I’ve edited the post to show the steps I did that resulted in the issue. It seems to happen when the outlines of the shapes overlap. If I move the shape slightly, it merges as expected. But the final shape is not what I want. I tried to google for “rules of merging” but couldn’t find anything to explain why this happens.

Hi @chesterbornel, I adjusted it once (it’s not as nice as your graphics). But your problem described does not occur to me.

I recommend you to reset your user profile. Before you start, please read the description, through to the end.

Otherwise, you may want to install a newer LibreOffice version.

With me Windows 10 Home; Version 1903; 64-Bit | LibreOffice, Version: 6.3.0.4 (x64).

Hi,

I downloaded a later version of LibreOffice and it seems to be working as expected. Thanks so much for your help!
