why is "LibreOffice_6.1.5.2_Win_x64" .msi file asking for 6.1.5_ (not number 2)?

hi, I keep downloading .msi files, but LibreOffice_6.1.5.2_Win_x64 .msi file is asking for some other files… what can I do to get libre working again?
on the control panel of windows I see a libre office 6.1.5.2, but I can not repair, change or uninstall.

what is the bug?

sometimes the libre office was asking to enter the source location for 6.1.5_ (note, no version as above!!!) what is the bug?

what do i have to do to get a libre office working?

btw, I have it on video. I was doing the download several times and also started the installation several times, because these new numbers were asked for by the installation wizard.

What website are you downloading the .msi installation file from?

Maybe this rename-approach from opaque will also work for you (first comment on that request).

@Spehret, this is probably not an answer. I chose the answer-function anyway because I want to write something in more detail.

I can not comprehend your described problem.

I’ve downloaded the LibreOffice version LibreOffice_6.1.5.2_Win_x64.msi you mentioned:

Previously, I uninstalled my existing LibreOffice (6.3.0.4) (I always do it that way).

After that I installed version 6.1.5.2.

It may be necessary to reboot between the deinstallation and installation steps.

There were no problems.
LibreOffice can be started.

A video on the process can see here (without audio):

The error analysis is not easy from the outside with your information.
It’s like poking in the fog. Possible sources of mistake could be:

  1. The last version of Office was not uninstalled or overwritten correctly.

  2. You have tried to install in a different drive / directory.

  3. Your virus protection program is causing problems.

With the last link the position “Create an installation log” is important. You can post it here. To do this, edit your file. Thank you.

And much success!

With me Windows 10 Home; Version 1903; 64-Bit | LibreOffice, Version: 6.3.0.4 (x64).

I downloaded the msi file 15 times, and I rebooted as much and it would not install.

i opend cmd and wanted to get the installation log, but then a window opend informing me, there is no log file.

In the controlpanel on programms, libre office is still visible as a BLIND ICON.

I can not work on libreoffice, so I downloaded textmaker.

I am working now. so if you have no answer to this problem, I will leave the video I made on the bad experiances up on youtube.

i lost 4 days of my life with your inective libreoffice.

whatever I do with the BLIND ICON on control panel s uninstall program, it asks for a version 6.1.5_ blank version, not the one with the 2 in the end.

please read the title of this question.

right now you are , where i was days ago.

its is that libre office wants a installation file with a 3 numbers, not the 4 numbers i downloaded from the msi page.

I now have libreoffice on my supposedly not updating and virus infected and firewall overprotected computer now. The BLINID icon is the normal icon of libreoffice. It would not let me uninstall, change nor repair without the installation data that was gone. So the msi file was required. but whenever I gave the 6.1.5.2 msi file, it ASKED FOR 6.1.5_ -SO I DELETED THE LAST NUMBER OF THE DOWNLOADED .MSI FILE AND UNINSTALLED LIBREOFFICE. It worked.

I made a video about the whole ordeal, there it is clearly visible, a dialog opens and wants a msi file 6.1.5 to uninstall 6.1.5.2 version of libreoffice.

tx for the help, wikipedia.
when I entered the words of the installation wizard into google, it gave me the wikisomething page with the hint to do the msi file download and if that not works, to get the log file. log file was not around in my case, strange this is. but i videod it, there still was this libreoffice icon on the control panel at the uninstall program page.
