Default font change does not hold

Using v6.0.7.3 on Ubuntu 16

When I change the default font in Libre Office Writer and hit “OK” it does not stick, next time I open Office it reverts back to the old default font.

Any help appreciated.

When I change the default font

How?

Tools/Options/LibreOfficeWriter/Basic Fonts/Default

I change it to Ariel, for example, and it goes right back to Liberation Mono upon re-start.

How did you add the font name into the dialog at Tools -> Options -> LibreOfficeWriter -> Basic Fonts -> Default? Just by typing in the name (which is indeed possible, without the font existing in the system) or by selecting from the drop down.

On my Ubuntu test system (18.04) there is neither a font Ariel nor Arial installed by default. Thus, where did you get your font from?

And what file format do you use to save?

Have you stored your choice of font in the Default Template?

Thanks for the responses. I chose Arial from the drop-down list. I don’t remember installing that font, but it’s possible, so I tried choosing some other fonts sure to be in the default build, but same effect. Saved as default odt format. Still doesn’t hold.

However I took the advice to store the font choice as a default template (there wasn’t one) and that is a good work around for me, although the problem was not exactly solved.

Finally the whole thing sounds like a corruption of your user profile. For testing purposes you may start LibreOffice with the following command to use a temporary fresh user profile:
libreoffice -env:UserInstallation=file:///tmp/LibreOfficeTest

Make your desired changes and start with same command again. If the setting is kept, then I’m pretty sure that the problem is within your current user profile (Tested with Ubuntu 18.04 and LibreOffice 6.0.7.3 from distribution repositories).
