Java-related entries

I just upgraded to version 6.2.6.2 on a 64-bit system running Microsoft Windows, with Java installed in C:\ProgramFiles\Java\jre1.8.3-221. I am not able to get Base to recognize the Java installation. Under Tools->Options->Advanced, Use a Java runtime environment is checked, the Location is already listed just as in the preceding, I have tried putting in -Dmyprop=c:\programfiles\java under assigned start parameters, but when I try to open an existing database file, I get messages like “No Java installation could be found. Please check your installation”. What am I doing wrong? Do I need an entry under “Class Path”?

Hello,

Provided this is a 64-bit LO, JRE should be good. You don’t need any start parameters (delete those you may have added).

In the window below Use Java runtime environment, the Oracle JRE should be listed. The circle to the left should have a dot in the middle signifying it is the selected version (can have multiple). If circle is empty, left mouse click it.

If nothing listed, you need to point to the Java location using Add....

Thanks for the quick response. I hadn’t realized that I needed to put a dot in the circle to select the JRE.
