Change dictionary by pressing a key

In almost every document I write I use both Dutch and English. To check the spelling I have to change the language by hand, this is a real pain.

I just want to press a key and change the dictionary from language A to B and vice versa.

Example of the problem:
Ik gebruik [change to English dictionary] Dutch and English in [change to Dutch dictionary] dezelfde zin. [change to English dictionary] Because of reason! [change to Dutch dictionary] En dat werkt niet lekker…

See what a pain it is to change the dictionary in the middle of a sentence. I just want to press a button and keep writing.

OP: @CyberFly

The general solution is not to change the dictionary but rather the association of a text style with a particular language. The spelling will take care of itself if the language association is made in the text. There are a couple of ways to do this. One is using character styles. Create a couple of character styles (e.g., “Text Dutch” and “Text English”) and set the language for each under the Font tab when editing the style. Then assign a keyboard shortcut to switch to using each character style (Tools > Customize… > Keyboard tab > Category of “Styles | Character” and Function of the name of the style e.g., “Text Dutch”). Similarly, you can use macros to switch between writing modes and assign these to shortcuts as indicated in this thread.

Note: Currently there appears to be a problem with Dutch spell-checking under v4.1.0 for Windows 8 as per fdo#65994.

Thanks for the answer. I tried and failed, text editors are like magic to me.
It only saves the character style in the current document. So I didn’t even bother with trying to make a macro.

@CyberFly it sounds like you succeeded. If you require this behaviour in more than one document you will need to create a blank document with the required styles, save it as a template (File > Save as Template…) and then use that template (Start Centre > Templates…) as a basis for all documents that require these styles.

I see, I’ll try to get the micros working then. It would make writing a document much more easy if I can change the language by pressing a button.
