Why does LibreOffice use the wrong font style when writing? [closed]

I am editing a section of my document but instead of using the font style of the previous text it uses some other style (for instance underline, bold). This is extremely annoying and different from OpenOffice, to which I am used to. In OpenOffice it only uses a different style after pasting some document without changing the style.

Select the text in question and right-click, choose Clear Direct Formatting. If necessary, reapply the correct paragraph/character styles to your paragraph.

Or select text and press CTRL+M shortcut.

But that adds extra work, I just want the text to have the same formatting as the other sections. Is it a bug?

The instructions we're giving will likely solve your issue. I don't think it is a bug. When opening and saving a single file in multiple applications, you might see some slight differences even though they may all support the ODF format.
