My search bar has disappeared from writer, but still works in spreadsheets. It doesn’t come up when I enter Edit, then Find or when I enter Ctrl+F.

have you tried to restart LibreOffice in Safe Mode (Help -> Restart in Safe Mode -> Button: Continue in Safe Mode, opening a Writer file and doing a CTRL+F? If that works, most probably your user profile is corrupt and you need to reset to factory settings (Close LibreOffice from safe mode, start again and use Help -> Restart in Safe Mode once more but now choose option Reset to factory settings and click button Apply Changes and Restart (after having performed Advanced -> Button: Archive User Profile)
