LibreOffice won't start

OS: Windows 7

Installation Directory: E:\Programs\LibreOffice 4

I upgraded LibreOffice to 4.0.x (It had been 3.x) and now whenever I try to run any of the programs (including soffice.exe) I see the splash screen and then nothing else. There is no sign of LibreOffice in the task manager. I uninstalled LibreOffice 4, downloaded LibreOffice 3.6.7, (which was roughly the version I had before, can’t remember it exactly), and 3.6.7 wouldn’t work anymore either. All of this was with installing the entire suite.

Then I uninstalled LibreOffice 3.6.7 and installed OpenOffice 4. That wouldn’t run either. I uninstalled that and installed LibreOffice 4.1 so I could be troubleshooting with the latest and greatest.

What could be the problem, and is there any way to get some sort of error log?

Try resetting the user profile:

Thank you. I’ve deleted the entire %AppData%\LibreOffice\4 folder and the program still won’t start. After reading the linked page I tried just deleting the user folder and still no success.

Do you run the install .msi with administrator rights?

Since I trust LibreOffice I tried that and still can’t run any of the installed programs.

For the record, no msi should require you to run it as administrator. That is giving the installer a blank check and then we’re back to the Windows 95 era of insecurity. When I run the LibreOffice installer normally, UAC prompts me as it should, and the program says the installation was successful. If I were hitting an authorization wall, the installer is not reporting it and that would be a bug.

Hi,

I have same problem (just LibreOffice 4.1 is first version I have ever tried). Can someone help?
