install of LO 6.3.3.2 on Ubuntu 19.10 - oosplash not found

I cannot find a way to disable locking in the 6.3.2 version Ubuntu installs Tricks to disable file locking not working V6.3.2.2

So I attempt to install 6.3.3 from Download LibreOffice | LibreOffice - Free Office Suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft. This links to a gz file which I unzipped. Under this directory there is a DEBS folder. So I installed these using

dpkg-i *.deb

This started a series of deb installs that showed no errors. However when I test I get an error:

libreoffice --version
/usr/bin/libreoffice: 180: exec: /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/oosplash: not found

So any idea what’s going on here and/or how to fix.

Did you uninstall the version installed from ubuntu’s respositories before you installed the DEB packages from libreoffice.org? Try to execute /opt/libreoffice6.3/program/soffice, if that works /usr/bin/libreoffice (which may be a symbolic link) is a remainder of the distribution specific installation. TDF version installs into /opt
