File>Open>Search gone?

asked 2019-11-15 22:06:27 +0100

After upgrading my OS and pulling down some fresh packages I find the File>Open dialog doesn't offer a Search option as it used to. Has this really gone? Any way to restore it? I'm running 6.0.7.3 on Lubuntu 18.04 (just upgraded to 18.04)

Hello,

whether you have an "search" in the file picker dialog in general is a matter of the operating system, since LibreOffice makes use of service provided by the OS (and its desktop manager). Can't comment on Lubuntu, but Ubuntu on 18.04 and not using setting Tools ->Options -> General -> [ ] Use LibreOffice dialog does provide a search field on the file picker dialog.

Windows also does have a search, while my LibreOffice on openSUSE 15.1 and KDE does not have a search box. I

Makes sense, it's calling an external service and that service changed in the OS upgrade.
