Different Paths for Calc and Writer?

I don’t want my spreadsheets mingled with my text documents (or drawing, presentations, etc.). Is there any way to set up different default paths for each app? I’ve been able to do this with other office programs. There seems to be only one path option for everything.

Forgive me if this has been dealt with before. I searched and couldn’t find anything.

What do you mean by “different paths for each app” - Different paths for the files you are going to save should go to different directories on your disk (e.g. .odt -> Documents/Calc; odt -> Documents/Writer, odp -> Dcouments/Impress, etc …)?

If you mean that - that’s not possible, since it is up to you where you store your files. From my point of view it’s bad habbit to just click the Save button and not to spent a second on how to organize any file and document structure.

I want to be able to specify the default file location for each type (.ods. odt, etc.) instead of having to navigate from MyDocuments to some subdirectory each time I want to save a new file. If I understand correctly, LibreOffice doesn’t permit this.

Regarding your second paragraph, setting my file and document structure is exactly what I was trying to do. I assure you I know exactly what I’m doing. I have over 40 years in software development and usage, and I’ve had the same file structure on all my machines. I was just trying make things a bit more user-friendly (for me) with LibreOffice.

No worries. I’ve got my answer.

@Allen1 P, you mean the settings via the menu Tools>Options>LibreOffice>Path. Unfortunately, there is only one “working directory”. A pity, but I like your idea. You have the possibility to submit suggestions for LibreOffice. This is what you can do on Bugzilla.
