Why do the imbedded audio files in an Impress ODP slideshow disapperar when converting to PPT or PPTX format?

Tried with inserted MP3 and WMA audio files. Works fine with Impress, but “save as” with Powerpoint types, the audio files disappear. Looking at the file sizes , the audio components are not there, but all the transitions and timings are all intact in the PPT or PPTX versions.

If I am understanding your problem, some time ago I had a similar problem, so will try to remember. When you link an audio file to a slide, for example, in an Impress presentation, that audio has an address on your hard, so if you are saving to a different format, that address changes, i.e., your audio file does not get incorporated into Impress, it gets called by Impress from its address. I had problems using mp3 audio files, but found that WAV worked more reliably. If you changed from mp3 to wav without also changing the address to be called, then the audio won’t work. Go into ‘slide transition’, then Sound:other sound, and a dropdown box should appear in which you see the locations on C: where your audios are stored. Insert a new address if necessary so Impress knows where to look for your audio file. To avoid confusing myself, I found it helpful to put the images, audios and text into a single file folder so that when it was time to incorporate into Impress, or make a change once in Impress, I could find those elements which were to be associated with eachother.
