Writer: Rows missing in modified linked spreadsheet

In a Writer document, I have a table which reflects the content of an area in a linked spreadsheet.
If I modify the link so that the displayed table should contain more rows, these added rows don’t show up at all.
Is there something in the document which might impede it?

How did you do the OLE integration?

When you choose OLE Object in Writer from the Insert>Object>OLE-Object menu, an Insert OLE Object dialog box appears.

There you choose “Create from file”.

Find your ODS file and click the check mark next to “Show as icon”.

If you then double-click on the Calc icon in Writer, Calc will open completely.

Thank you for your answer!
I don’t remember how I inserted the data initially as it was a long time ago.
Now, when I go to Edit>Links to External Files..., I can modify the area, e.g. changing Category from 'my_spreadsheet'.A28:E32 to 'my_spreadsheet'.A28:E34, but the two added lines won’t be displayed.
One thing I’m just noticing now when I look at the pop-up header - it says Modify DDE Link. So it seems this is DDE, not OLE? Might this be a problem?

Which OS and LibreOffice-Version do you use?

Do you have your spreadsheet document in the same path as Writer’s ODT?

MacOS 10.14.6, LibreOffice 6.3.3.2. Both ODS & ODT are in the same folder. The link itself definitely works, data is updated. Just the change in display area yields no effect.

Given that I don’t find any hint that you can restrict the content of a linked OLE spreadsheet to a certain area (if you simply copy & paste, you get an embedded OLE spreadsheet, which data is not updated if the source data file changes), and modifying the DDE link didn’t work, I now unlinked the table, deleted it, and recreated it again as a DDE link (via right-click paste option).
Maybe I’m missing something about OLE objects here, but this is what worked for me.
