How do I get Calc to highlight the input, cell position for easier use?

So, I am working on my budget in Calc and I keep having to confirm where I am at to input data by seeing which row and column is highlighted in the outside borders. It would be easier if the intersection of these two, the input cell, was highlighted. How do I set that up?

Pendig feature request tdf#33201.

I remember that there were provisional solutions (workarounds) based on user code, but I cannot find one of them now.

Found meanwhile the relevant example.
If you don’t insist on persisting .CellBackColor by direct formatting, you can base a solution on the demo found here.

Hello,

there is no option to highlight the intersection of column and row (i.e the currently active cell). The only thing visible indication of the currently active cell is its black border with a small square at the lower right corner.
