At work, people use Office 365 for institutions, but I would like to keep going from home and only have Base 6.3. I saved the files as .mdb, but Base doesn’t even recognize them.

Unfortunately you cannot do this as your question states.
While there are methods to connect to an Access database it will only be able to use tables and possibly some queries. Forms, reports, macros and much functionality present in Access is not there from Base.
