What are the triangular buttons in the bottom left of calc for?

There are some triangular buttons at the bottom left of the libreoffice calc interface (see screenshot). I have no idea what they do as nothing seems to happen when I click them. I’d like to remove them from the interface to make it less cluttered. Anyone know how to do this?

Edit: Example with multiple sheets:

Notice the buttons are pale grey and under them is says sheet1 of 1. To the right of those buttons in your image it a + and the name of the sheet. It you click the + and add a sheet the triangular buttons are for navigating the list of sheets will change to black and become active.

The ones with the lines on them are first and last sheets and the others two scroll through the list in the direction of the arrow (they are really meant to be arrows, not just triangles).

That’s what I thought they might be. But even when I have multiple sheets they still do nothing (see the additional screenshot added to the original post).

Is there any way I can just hide them from the interface?

If you have enough sheets to fill the line at the bottom of the screen, then they become ‘ungreyed’. They then move the whole line left or right, scrolling off the ends.

The arrowheads are for scrolling/browsing the sheet tabs. They are not active until tabs are hidden. This happens when you have many sheets in your file, long sheet names, or a narrow window.

There is no way (that I know of) to hide those without also hiding the tabs. They are part of the “tabbed interface”.

Menu Tools - Options, expand Calc - View, untick tabs
