WRITER - How to make "page number 1 of ##" update?

No matter which page of my 11 page document I am on, it always shows “Page 1 of 11” in the lower left corner. How to fix so it shows the current page’s ACTUAL number.

FYI - I dont want to “insert” actual page numbers on the page, just have the status bar tell me the truth.

Insert/Field/PageCount works for me.

If you mean what appears in the bottom status bar, it displays information relative to the cursor. If you scroll in your document without moving the cursor, display doesn’t change.

Have you moved the cursor?

BTW, your question is not common because it is only about Writer. Please retag your question.

@ajlittoz - this was my - in the meantime deleted - answer too, but noticed on a test that seems to be not true / no longer true (test on LibreOffice 6.3.4.2 / 6.2.8.2 on Linux openSUSE 15.1 and LibreOffice 6.3.4.2 on macOS 10.15 / Windows 10). Just scrolling was sufficient during the test to get the page on status bar updated.

@anon73440385: right, I didn’t notice. I usually focus on my text; not on ancillary information. Routine prevents you from updating your knowledge of the application
