any good intro to the Java UNO runtime you would recommend?

that would be of great help to me right now since my time is very tight and i don’t have private Internet access. i have to access the internet from a public library
I would like to work on localizing formulas and math expressions (I teach Math and Sciences myself and find that aspect of libreoffice quite annoying)

Sorry, don’t know about using LibO uno/api in Java. But…
Quoting @lbrtchx: “I would like to work on localizing formulas and math expressions…”
Just for curiosity: What localizing should formulas need? What do you have before localizing should take place?

Just came about your other question and found your intentions more complicated than I had expected.
I would suppose you won’t succeed with “translocalizations” based on the LibO locales generally. Concerning mathematical and scientific formulas the actual usage may differ within the range of one locale, and the structures used to describe locales for LibO won’t know (e.g.) how matrices are denoted somewhere. The reservation @erAck made is rather minor then.
If you can reduce the task to replacements of specific substrings by others it is not too difficult.
BTW: If there is an international standad we should always use it.
