I have downloaded libre office and was converting MSOffice files to it…I had 2100 and some files and 1800+ had converted when it froze on me.

Can you kill it? Click on the cross in the corner and it should ask if you want to end the process. Answer yes. Or use Task Manager to end soffice process. Then try to make it convert again. If possible, rule out which exact file causes the trouble and file a bug report about it, attaching the file.
