FTP general input/output error

Hi all,

i am trying to set up access to my FTP server through LO (version 6.3.3.2.0) on a Fedora workstation, and when the process is done i am getting the message “General input/output error”. Both in Open Remote Files and Save Remote Files menus. I am completely certain that i have provided the details for the connection correctly and there is no network issue. Any ideas?

Are you sure your FTP Server allows creation of files starting with a dot . (Lockfiles are named .~lock.filename.extension#)? To check. whether this is your issue, connect through command line and upload a test file starting with a dot. This might be definitely a permission problem (some FTP server even don’t allow to upload). Since there is no information given about the FTP server software and its configuration no further advice can be given.

I will check the .file capability of my FTP server. It definitely allows uploading with the account i have provided to the Libre Office. My FTP runs on a D-Link NAS, for some years now, without access problems from other devices/software. It all started when i tried to open directly an existing .doc file through the file manager of my Fedora (like i do with pdf or jpg files). A Libre Office pop-up came up, which asked my for user/pass, with user locked to anonymous. Then i tried to set up my FTP server on Libre Office itself, with the results i described on my question.
