How can I change which fonts appear in drop-down menu? [closed]

When I go to change the font in a word document, I have to trudge through a bunch of musical symbol fonts, fonts in other languages, and unexciting normal fonts. Often I'm looking for just a few classic fonts that I use for normal documents, or several fancier ones that I downloaded and installed myself. I want to know if there is a way to hide all of the fonts I don't want or change the collection of fonts that is the default in the drop-down menu. (I have a Mac and made a new "Collection" in the FontBook application of my favorite fonts. Is there a way I can make only these ones available?)

Simply: you can't (yet).

I know there is some bug/enhancement request flying arround in our database regarding "show the (recently) used fonts on top of the fontlist". I can't find a bug number right now, but I know there is one. What you would like to suggest about the "Collection" in the FontBook application isn't reported yet. LibreOffice don't do anything with this kind of lists. You can report it here. After you did create the bug report, you can change the priority to 'enhancement request'.

Kind regards,

Thanks Joren. You beat me to it. I will amend my answer. Is the bug you mention fdo#55495?

Yes, that's one of the bugs I was referring to. I know there was also a bug more related to this question. A bug mentioning to 'manage' the font list (select which fonts are shown, swap fontpositions etc etc). Still can't find it (dangit :) ).

Bug fdo#36492 would seem a likely candidate. I have placed a comment in bug fdo#60626, which appears to be a duplicate.

Your question appears to be more one relating to whether LibreOffice supports "collections" created by the Font Book application under MacOS. You can certainly use Font Book to add or remove system fonts, but according to @jorendc it appears LO does not support the collection feature. The page linked states:

In applications that use the standard OS X Fonts panel, such as Mail, Pages, and TextEdit, you click the name of a collection to see only the fonts in that collection

You may need to file an enhancement bug to get this feature added to LO. Please provide as much information as possible. Don't forget to mark your bug as an 'enhancement'. The QA team will be happy to help you triage your feature request in the bugtracker. Please post a link to any bugs you file in a comment below using the format "fdo#123456".
