Hello,
I would like to paint a cell in calc with the same background as last time. So the background color button on the toolbar shows this color, but when I click on it, it doesn’t paint the cell with that color, but opens the color dialog and you have to choose the same one. This is anoying and I was wondering if I did something wrong or if there is another easy way to do this.
This feature will be available in LibreOffice 3.6, thanks to Winfried Donkers who implemented it. At least it will be in Writer and Calc.

Actually, there may be a lag, but (unlike Excel) the colour shown in the background colour button on the toolbar should change to that of the currently-selected cell, ie. it doesn’t retain the colour from the last cell. Then the only option is to select from the colour dialogue. This seems to be a long-standing issue with OpenOffice/LibreOffice. See:

As a work-around, you can copy and paste-special, and choose to just paste the formatting, but this may include more than just colour. You can also select multiple, non-adjacent cells using Control-click (Command-click on a mac) and then apply the same background colour to all of them at the same time.
I agree with that : it’s annoying. In a text with a lot of colors, or unknown set colors we have to search for the correct color. It’s borring and useless.
Color icon should (MUST) displayed Current selection color (background, font, etc).
