how to raise refresh rate?

Libreoffice runs with only (about) 15 frames per seconds on my pc.

This is obviously sufficient for writing, but animations and moving the cursor feel a bit unpleasant.

I know my PC is capable of rendering more frames per second.

Is there a way to raise the cap on the refresh rate?

Have you already tried to toggle OpenGL in Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice -> View -> Category: Graphics Output -> Option: [X ] Use OpenGL for all rendering on/off and checked whether that fixes your problem?

I had the exact same problem. If you have an nVidia graphics driver, this is what worked for me.

  • In the NVIDIA Control Panel, click on ‘Manage 3D Settings’.

  • Select the ‘Program Settings’ tab, then click ‘Add’.

  • Select LibreOffice (not the individual Writer or Calc, etc… programs) and click ‘Add Selected Program’.

    • If LibreOffice is not in the list, click on ‘Browse’ and locate the ‘soffice.exe’ executable file for LibreOffice. Mine was
located at ‘C:\program files\libreoffice\program\soffice.exe’, but yours may differ.
  • Back in the ‘Program Settings’ tab under ‘Manage 3D Settings’, LibreOffice is NOT listed as LibreOffice, but rather as ‘PCMark 10 (soffice.exe)’. Be sure that program is selected in the drop down list.

  • Under ‘Feature’, find the ‘OpenGL Rendering GPU’ and change this setting from Auto-Select to your graphics processor. Mine is listed as a GeForce GTX 1080Ti. (I do not know if this is the actual setting that fixed my problem, but this is the one that I changed first, and it is working now. I fact, I CAN’T make it not work now.)

  • Click ‘Apply’, then close the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Hopefully this works for you!
