failure to export odt as pdf

I have two odt documents. I can export each as a pdf with no problem. The second document consists of two paragraphs, which I want to insert as a footnote into the first. I can do that and save the result as an odt document, but when I try to export the resulting odt document as a pdf, LO crashes.

In an attempt to overcome the problem, I inserted into the first document only the first paragraph of the second document, saved as odt and then exported the result as a pdf without a problem. It’s when I add the second paragraph of the second document that all goes bad.

I’d be grateful for any suggestions as to how I might be able to add both paragraphs as a footnote and then obtain a pdf. I did, incidentally, try one of those on-line conversion sites, but the conversion failed there too.

I can’t duplicate your problem. Are you using any special formatting? Does it matter which paragraph you insert first/second? What separation is there between the two paragraphs? Are the two paragraphs to form the same footnote (might be some difficulty there)?

I’ll answer my own question, in case it should help someone else. I was able to copy the first document into Google Docs, then to copy the second document into the first, still in Google Docs. Then I was able to create a pdf of the edited document using Google Docs. I’m not sure why Google Docs could do this when LO couldn’t, but at least I now have the pdf I required.
