I keep score with Calc for 18 teams. They use computers and smartphones to read their mail. That means Excel, LO, OO, Linux, Windows, iOs and Android (and there may be others). This is really a two part question. 1- how to send just the current sheet and 2 - is there a format that all (or most) can read? I would really rather not have to send 2 or 3 versions.

It depends if users you would like to send to are going to edit your data or just view the data.
a) Edit data: save in “Excel XLS” file type.
b) Only view: export to PDF (see icon from toolbar or Edit | Export as PDF).
If you would like to export only current sheet, then I suggest to copy all of the data from current sheet and open new Calc document and right mouse button and select Paste only | Text. Then export to PDF.
The PDF-Export dialogue is offering range options. Preparing convenient ‘pages’ by defining/editing print ranges or inserting/deleting manual page breaks might be useful.
