Creating a 3-across report - same data in each!

I am trying to create a report that shows 3 records across. I selected the fields from the database three times and positioned them across the page. But when I view the Document, it shows the same data in each:

ex: I want

Fred Flintstone … Barney Rubble … Dino Saur

2 Pepple Rd. … 4 Pepple Rd … 18 Croc Way

what I get

Fred Flintstone … Fred Flinstone … Fred Flinstone

2 Pepple Rd. … 2 Pebble Rd. … 2 Pepple Rd.

(The periods were added for formatting - they do not display on report)

How do I get the next record to show instead of the first one repeating?

Forget it - I guess no one else knows how to, either! I created an EXCEL spreadsheet from the Base database and use Mail Merge in WORD to create the report using the spreadsheet. I guess LibreOffice Base is a very poor substitute for ACCESS!!

I actually gave your question some thought. I don’t work much with Base, but I used to do a lot with Access, and I couldn’t even work out how I would do it there. What is your Access solution? My only thoughts were that (1) it would need to be query based, and (2) it would help to know which of those fields was primary for pulling the related data (I assume “Name”, but it would be better not to guess!).

I would love to know the answer to this question, too. It certainly can be none easily in the legacy REPORT WIZARD (LRW - now deprecated in LO), just one of the reasons I think the RB leaves a lot to be desired! Is there any way of re-enabling the LRW in recent versions of LO?

I think the example, as provided, is not typical for any definition of “multi-column” in the original AOO Report Designer specification. According to bug fdo#52944 the “multi-column reports” feature (i.e., phone book style of one column, then the next column) listed on the help page for the Report Builder appears to have never been implemented. As indicated in the bug, this feature comes from the specification (5.20, pp.42-43) for the old Report Designer.
