I see many ways to create 3d objects inside of Draw, but I would like to be able to import 3d objects created outside of Draw, hopefully as a type of clipart. Is this even possible?

Although Draw has a 3D-engine with scene and camera and lights, the definition of a 3D-object is very special and the UI is terrible. There exists no import, you would need to write your own macros. Do you have an example of such 3D-object data you want to import?

Draw has only cube, sphere, extrusion and rotation to generate 3D-objects. To design an arbitrary plane in 3D, you need to define it as 2D-polygon on the xy-plane and transform it to its target place in the scene by a transformation matrix.

Just create a screenshot of your 3D object, all 3D applications can handle this.

Draw is a 2D drawing program, consequently importing 3D objects does not make sense.

Please edit your question or post a comment under it or my answer to tell which type of 3D drawing you want to import (e.g. extension if you don't know which application created it).

If you want to edit it, there may be open-source solutions. If it is only to use it as an illustration in Writer or Impress, a conversion to a supported format is needed first.
