Hello, After I had to restart my computer when LibreOffice was open, I can't start it again. When I open it, I see loading screen and then blank window which doesn't respond even after a long time. I can't also open it by opening LibreOffice documents. I tried reinstalling LO and updating Windows 8, but it doesn't help.

The first thing to try is resetting your user profile.

When I wrote libreoffice --safe-mode in terminal, I got 'libreoffice' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. I tried emptying the folder %APPDATA%\libreoffice\4\user but it didn't help. Deleting LibreOffice folder in AppData\Roaming too. The same problem is on guest account.

Hello,

please try:

  • Right click -> Run on Windows Start menu
  • Type "%ProgramFiles%\LibreOffice\program\soffice" --safe-mode into Open text field (including the double quotes)
  • Click OK
  • Archive your profile expanding Advanced (click on the word Advanced right above Help button) and click Archive User Profile button (could be omitted, since you already deleted the user profile).
  • Click button Continue in Safe Mode
  • Check whether LibreOffice starts

If that works, you probably have an issue with OpenGL. Perform the same procedure as above, but use option

  • [o] Configure
  • [X] Disable hardware acceleration (OpenGL, OpenCL)
  • Click button Apply Changes and Restart
