I am trying to add styles to the different sections of my book. While going back and forth from master to subdocument, the font size on some of the paragraph styles become too small to read. I can’t see my styles. How do I fix that? I noticed the font size on the main screen was 2 which I change to no effect.C:\fakepath\Screenshot (4).png
Your screenshot shows that at some time you messed up Default Style.

The style side pane has a menu at the bottom which presently says
All Styles. There should be next to it a check box labeled something like Show style preview (you didn’t mention your LO version so it is possible this checkbox is not present). Uncheck it. You’ll see the style names without style formatting.If the checkbox is not there, set the menu to
Hierarchical. In this configuration, Default Style is the first style at top. -
Right-click on Default Style and
Modify -
Go to
Fonttab and press theStandardbutton. This will restore Default Style to “factory” settings (not quite true but if didn’t tamper with configuration inTools>Optionsit should do).

Thanks aglittos. I didn’t have a ‘show style preview box’ although I remember seeing something like that somewhere. Setting default to standard didn’t do anything to the small fonts. Thanks for the thought about “modify” and font size. I was able to go into modify on all styles with tiny fonts and change font size from 2 to 12. All is good now. Thanks so much!
Well, this rather a comment than a solution. So, please, make it a comment under my answer.
If you had to go through all styles, then you previously fiddled with all of them, which is not good practice. Paragraph styles are hierarchical, meaning they inherit from their ancestors, provided the attribute has not been changed in the style. Whenever you change an attribute, this cuts the relationship betwwen the present style and the ancestor from which it inherits (for this attribute). After that, modification in the ancestor no longer cascades down to the style.
This is why you must carefully design your style hierarchy to be able to reformat your document from a handful of key styles. Therefore, you must avoid two pitfalls:
- all styles are independant (you’ll have to update all)
- an unwanted/unexpected attribute override is on the way, blocking the cascade
Right. Sorry about posting comment as an answer. Months ago I tweaked something trying to get a page break using small font? I hope things are now restored. So far at least I can now read the style fonts. I believe I still have some attribute on a few stories that is blocking the cascade here and there. I will start a new post if I can’t resolve it in the next few hours. Thanks for all your help.
