How can I associate .bak files with Writer in Windows 7?

I want to associate .bak files with Writer in order to open them with a double-click in Windows Explorer, but Windows refuses to accept swriter.exe as the default program. I double-click on a .bak file, then “Windows can’t open this file - Select a program from a list of installed programs - Choose the program you want to use to open this file” and I browse to LibreOffice 4.0\program and choose swriter.exe, but it does not appear in the list of Other Programs.
I have LibreOffice 4.0.4.2 running on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

I have selected soffice.exe as the default program, and that works fine for me (Win7-64b/LibreOffice 4.1.2.3).

Associating soffice.exe works, as manj_k kindly pointed out. Why swriter.exe doesn’t remains a mystery. Microsoft trying to make life difficult for LO users?
