find & replace in Writer doesn't replace; it adds.

I’m using LibreOffice Version: 6.3.5.2 (x64) on Windows 7. In this and previous upgrade I started having sporatic problems with Find & Replace in Writer. Example: Find Marianna - Replace with Mariana produced MariannaMariana.

I finally figured out that this only occurs when I am Tracking Changes. If I turn off Tracking, Find & Replace works just fine.

I offer this here so anyone who is having a similar problem can use this workaround. Or if you have a different way to fix the problem, you can tell me. Also, I believe this is a genuine glitch and should be addressed in the next version.

Are you sure that it it doesn’t create: image description? If it creates that, than this is expected behavior, since Find&Replace deletes Marianna and adds Mariana ( replace = delete [old text] + add [new text]), which is a tracked change like any other change. Otherwise you may file a bug here

More experimenting… If “track” and “view” are both turned on, then, yes, I get the expected behavior.

If “track” is on and “view” is off, then I get MariannaMariana, which persists until I turn “view” on. I then see the delete/add as you’ve shown in your comment. If I then turn “view” off, MariannaMariana has changed to Mariana (what I expected to see from the the beginning.)

I still say this is unusual behavior.
