I have noticed something very strange about file creation dates.

I notice that when I create a file in Writer (the main module I use) that the file create/altered date shows 10 Jan 2019 instead of 16 Apr 2020. Why? I checked the Bios Date of my computer and it is spot-on correct as is the system time that windows uses. Why is there a difference?
All of my other programs that I use (photo creation/editing; Genealogy Research Software, etc) all utilize the correct system time.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I suppose that you see the time of a different file than that you modified. Check if you used correct directory (when saved or when checked).

I am using the correct directory, the correct file, etc.
All of the creation dates for my Writer Files are 15 month in the past (wrong date being set by program)
It does not change my file, it is just an error that is a puzzlement since ALL MY OTHER PROGRAMS use the correct system time/date stamp.

I see you using Windows. LibreOffice code does not call the function that explicitly sets creation/modification times anywhere (it has a function for that, but I have just checked it is unused). So please confirm this: that if you create a new Writer document and save it with this name: “a new document created on 2020-04-17”, will it get creation/modification time from 2019?

Mike, using your instructions, it creates a file (saved document) with the correct date/time stamp.
I then went back to the formats that I use for my on-line postings, and when I edit the document format with the new data and save it to a new name, it is saved in the directory with this file creation date (done just a minute ago): Verse for 17 Apr 2020 … 11 Jan 19 5:21PM (it was created 17 Apr 20 @ 10:20PM)
It does not make any sense that it should do that, even if it was from a format saved earlier, when the name changed and the directory changed, it should be the current date, right?
I just use MS Word 2007 to do the same exact save from editing a previous format and it saved it correctly
I now used MS Wordpad to do the same save action and it did it correctly.
So, why does LibreOffice Writer use the date that the directory was created and advancing a day at a time?

It is just an anomaly that bugs me, and does not alter the file, it is just that for records created the date stamp is incorrect and affects my archiving credibility.
