Can one import a template as a sheet (say, the 10th sheet)? Or, must one call up the template, copy it and then paste it to a newly added sheet?

No. A template is a document but a sheet is only part of a document.

Templates are normally stored in the template directory but maybe not for this use case. You'll need to navigate to the directory the template is in.

I cannot find where the templates out other LibreOffice files are stored under Mac OS10. Have you any idea?
