Fresh document

Why can’t I load a new clean document with nothing left over from previous documents? Why can’t I figure out a way to clean out any left over residual stuff such as formatting marks in a new document?! It’s a real frustration to us beginners that there’s so much that’s not explained or is hidden! I’m loving the possibility of getting rid of Microsoft Office, and I like the fresh look and feel, but I’m investing a ton of time trying to learn the ropes.

What do you mean with

Why can’t I load a new clean document with nothing left over from previous documents?

File>New>Text Document gives you an empty document, unless your default template contains initial stuff.

Edit your question (since this is not a solution, don’t use an answer) to explain how you create a new document (e.g. open first LO, then File>New>… or another method). Mention your OS because there are variations in app launching by the OS and LO version.

Hi Eric, your description regarding a new document does not say anything about how to get a new document.

As a beginner, it is always a little more difficult, so here is a link to the documentation:

Please edit your question and describe how you do it so that we can understand it.

Please also add which operating system and which LibreOffice version you are working with.

Also please try to reflect you question into the topic title.
