The one thing I still close Calc for and open Excel is when I need to remove duplicates. Excel has a single button, Calc has a convoluted tedious process like this. The use-case for removing duplicates is fairly common for me: Wanting to sum up a column grouped by labels. So:
- Copy a column of labels to another empty column
- Remove dupes on this new column
- Generate a SUMIF over a numerical column for each of the items in the de-duped column values matching on the original label column
In Excel this is very quick to do. In Calc is takes way too long due to the step 2.
