Search and Replace with null?

I want to delete a character from a line among many lines, but I don’t want to leave anything in its place. Search and replace won’t simply let me do a search and put nothing in the replace window. How do I accomplish what I want?

That would be a bug. But it works here (6.4.3.2), and worked always as far as I remember, no bug reports like that.

The answer has to do with actually clicking one the window where the replacement is to appear. The reason it didn’t work for me was that I just left it blank and did not click on it when I clicked “replace all”.

Aha! So the solution is even more simple than I had thought. Bravo to you!

CTRL-Space seems to work on my setup as a replacement (non)character.

I doubt that. Or rather, it may depend on the desktop keyboard bindings what character it actually produces, but in any case it wouldn’t be nothing (null) then.
