Why are base checkbox reference values ignored?

Hi,

The reference values are ignored in Base 4. I have a MySql DB connected from my office to my home office. The office is still using Ms Access 97 which uses -1 and 0 for true and false respectively. For a few years I’ve used OpenOffice Base as my home setup (ODBC) to use the office DB but since OpenOffice 4 and now with Libreoffice 4.1 they simply don’t work any more. It seems the checkboxes only wish to accept 1 or 0 whatever is put into the reference fields . Is this a permanent change or an unfortunate bug? It’s made creating a new odb file with the new version unusable for me. Even the old forms made in 2008 won’t work any more. In the interests of balance, the same problems apply to OpenOffice.

Thanks,

SK17Rob

I am not certain if this is your problem, but bug fdo#69554 would seem to indicate that since v4.1.0.0 there is a problem with how form fields are connected to a boolean DB field. You may find that LO v4.0.5.2 works OK and so a temporary regression in version use may be in order until this problem is sorted out. That matter about Access 97 using -1 as a value for true seems unfathomable.

Thanks for bothering to reply. I have been been a supporter of OpenOffice and now LibreOffice since the StarOffice days and it’s lovely to see the way it has developed. If I can coax my office away from MS Access 97 maybe I could get them off the Microsoft treadmill altogether!
