LO Writer - 2-column section changes behaivor at page break

LO 6.2.4.2 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Have a document in LO Writer. Inserted a 2-column section. Pasting in content copied from another LO document. At first, content fills first column before going to second, which is what I want. But when the first page fills up and it goes to a second page, then it fills to keep the two columns ‘balanced’. What’s going on here, and how do I get it to always fill the first column before going to the second?

Format → Section → Options → Column tab: there you can choose, just bellow the number of columns, to disable the option to “balance” all columns.
