If you configure a Table of Contents with hyperlinks instead of page numbers and store the file (.DOC format) and reload the file, the TOC switches back to page numbers.
I don’t know if it happens with native format as I always use WORD file format.
I can’t find an open bug relating to this issue for MacOS. Please check the list of currently open Writer bugs for doc+table+content and doc+hyper to see if any apply to your situation.
