Quick access menu AND colour loss

I have been looking for something like the MS Word right click access to oft used menu items eg columns but the program is so vast i haven’t found anything yet.
I’m sure there will be one but where?
Plus, when i use a previously saved Word document I lose all coloured headings and although i select a colour to replace them it doesn’t work. I can highlight the background with colour but not select a cloured font.
Tips please

Right click brings up a context menu in Writer, like it does in Word. The choice of options may be a bit different. The two apps are different.

One important difference is that Writer is more rigidly structured in the approach to styles, which may take a while to get used to when you come from Word. Writer also expects you to use the “styles abstraction” in cases where Word only provides for direct formatting.

Where you are expected to use styles, the provision of functionality in a context menu becomes less relevant, and sometimes counter productive. Not sure whether this explains all the shortcomings you experience, but I guess it is the best you can get in this place. Enhancement requests go elsewhere.

Again, this may be due to different priorities in Word context vs. the more style centered Writer context. When you use Writer, you should also use the native storage format of Writer. File - Save as ..., Select file type ODF-text (.odt)

Sending a document back and forth between “Word context” and “Writer context” (which is what happens when you use Writer but save as a Word document) is a tried and true path into formatting hell.
