Can I run two versions of Libre office on the same machine?

I would like to install LibO 6.4 to use one of its new features, but would like to keep my 6.3 version in case any of the bugs in it hits me. But I noticed in How do I get rid of an older version of Libre Office that keeps interfering with my newer version? that there may be problems.

Are there any issues in having both versions on the machine. I probably won’t want to run them at the same time, except possibly by accident.

Installing several versions of LibreOffice in parallel

Follow the instructions for your operative system. I recommend to use different user profiles for both versions, in that way you’ll be able to run both at the same time (I do that to test beta versions).

Thanks. I looked at the page and several more, but there aren’t any instructions there on having more than one user profile. Or do the instructions about changing the UserInstallation parameter refer to the profile?

@ptoye, yes, you need to edit the bootstrap file to change UserInstallation parameter.

@RGB-es Thanks. It seems to be getting complicated. Maybe I’ll just save my current profile, install 6.4 and if there are problems I can reinstall 6.3 and copy the profile back.
