Merge multiple footnotes

I want to merge footnotes in Writer. For instance, I would like to select footnotes 2-4 and merge them into a single note. Why? When we write scholarly works, it’s handy to keep each citation right with each sentence during the draft process. That way we can rearrange our thoughts and the footnotes stay with them. But for the final draft, notes should be merged to reduce clutter on the printed page. Thx!

There is no facility to elegantly do this in LO at present. The easiest workaround is to cut and paste the anchoring identifier in the text to the required location. These identifiers can be separated with a thin space or comma set in the Footnote Anchor character style. If you truly need to merge the text in the body of several footnotes then you are facing a more extensive manual process i.e., you will need to cut and paste this text as well and remove the unwanted identifier.
