Can LibreOffice password protect opening and modifying PDF files?

Hi. How are you?

I need to be able to have different passwords:

  1. 1st password to open up and read the PDF

  2. 2nd DIFFERENT password to allow modification of the PDF

Can LibreOffice perform this type of protection?

Thank you!

EDIT ebot: Text structured

Have you pressed on the Set Passwords button in the Security tab of dialog File>Export As>Export as PDF?

A secondary dialog pops up with sections Set open password and Set permission password. There is a Help button which gives the answer to your question. Even without going so far, the Security tab already gives a summary of the security passwords (or the absence thereof).

As a general rule, always start with some navigation in the built-in help and ask here when you could not find what you were looking for.

To show the community your question has been answered, click the ✓ next to the correct answer, and “upvote” by clicking on the ^ arrow of any helpful answers. These are the mechanisms for communicating the quality of the Q&A on this site. Thanks!

In case you need clarification, edit your question (not an answer) or comment the relevant answer.

Helped me. You probably haven’t been upvoted yet because of the backflips needed to register for an account; with all the “everything” that goes along with it.

Probably helped more than me, but you’ll not likely ever know.

Will ya, or not?

If I could, I would select this as an “Answer” to the question.

Great! Thanks!

(I don’t have the program yet - I wasn’t going to install if it did not have that abilty).

Comment 1: this is not an answer to your question, move it as a comment under my answer then delete it (reason: this is not a forum but a question&answers site, no thread here!)

Comment 2: you should have mentioned LO wasn’t installed yet. This would have spared you my irony.

Comment 3: click on the gray tick mark at top left of my answer (only once even if seemingly nothing happens).
