read text is installed but the button does not appear in the toolbar or in the view toolbars menu. Could you please advise how to fix this? Thanks

After uploading the newest version of LO much of my former settings were changed or disappeared - word was re-instated as my default program which I have finally fixed. Also the read text button (which I think was the windows one with the black comment icon) did not work anymore. So I downloaded the LO readtext extension and got it installed but now cannot use it unless I go into the tools addons menu every time I want to get it to work. The button is not in the toolbar or the view toolbars menu.

Hi. The changes to default programs were almost certainly due to an operating system update that was implemented at the same time as your installation/reboot. It might be worth doing another Restart of your system in case there are still changes that need it.

I peered at the movie from the link at github, there appears to be a toobar that is added, I can see only the first letter but I suspect the toobar might be called Add-ons or similar. There was only one icon, Read Text, on the toolbar. If you go to the menu and click View > Toolbars do you see an entry for Addon? If so, is it ticked? If not, click it. All the best, Al

Thanks for your speedy response! I tried both of your ideas - the only place for add-on is under tools and that’s where I could click the read text and then the next window before it started reading. A bit clunky. Anyway, I downloaded a previous version of the extension today and it has worked! So very happy and can get back to work. Thanks for your help.

To test, I have just installed the latest version of Read Text and after restarting LO the Read Text toolbar appeared docked just before the start of the Standard toolbar. The toolbar is now called Read Text as is the icon which on my installation is just a black speech bubble, not orange as in the movie. This is on:

Version: 6.4.4.2 (x64), Build ID: 3d775be2011f3886db32dfd395a6a6d1ca2630ff, CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18363; UI render: default; VCL: win; Locale: en-NZ (en_NZ); UI-Language: en-GB, Calc: CL

Glad you got it to work. Yes - the icon is a black speech bubble for me too. Thanks.
