There was a power glitch and the opening screen is blank. Us oldies need help PLEASE!!! Where are the doc files stored?
To get help, help us to better assess the problem. Edit your question (don’t use an answer which is reserved for solutions) to give the OS (system) name and LO version.
Is the screen totally blank, without even a menu bar?
If you have a menu bar, go to Tools>Options, LibreOffice>Paths. There are a collection of “paths”. THe one called “My Documents” tells you where the doc files are stored.
In case the suggestion above doesn’t work, have you tried using your operating system’s File Manager? You haven’t told us which operating system you are using. So if it is Windows, use Windows Explorer to look for your files. They are probably in a folder called My Documents. Double-click on one of your documents there and you will probably get a little dialog box asking which program to open the document with. Of course, select LibreOffice Writer. After this, that document will appear on the LO opening screen. You will probably have to do these steps for each of your documents. But at least now you know where to find them next time they disappear (which should be a rare occurrence).
