When I drag or use insert image only a blank rectangle appears with ‘image’ in the left hand corner & an anchor icon.
Choose menu View - Images and Charts.

Check the mark (
) to the left of the answer that solves your question.
I tried that. It didn’t work. And I tried many other things that were on google but nothing so far has worked.
Open writer.
Try to go to the menu: tools and then check options.
Click on the “libreoffice writer”, on the left side of the window and expand it.
Click on “view” and then click on the display pictures and objects.
